Topic 109 · Networking Fundamentals
109.2 Persistent network configuration
Step 1 of 12 · weight 4
View, change, verify
Weight 4. On a client and on a server the job is the same: read the host, change the connection, and confirm the saved setting is still there after it comes back up.
- Basic TCP/IP host configuration covers the interface, the address, and the default route
- Ethernet and Wi-Fi are configured with NetworkManager. nmcli is the tool when there is no GUI
- Be aware of systemd-networkd. Also recognize hostname and resolver files, and the legacy distribution tools
Files
/etc/hostname/etc/hosts/etc/nsswitch.conf/etc/resolv.conf
Exam note
The exam utilities are nmcli, hostnamectl, ifup, and ifdown, plus those four files. Writing the address was the gap left by 109.1.
